Bobber Rear (floating rear)
So you think a proper Bobber has to have a floating rear fender & sprung saddle? We do too! Unfortunately it's not so easy… Why? Well I'll start at the rear end.
The first thing is the fender itself. Tragically you can't even buy a base fender with the correct radius for love or money. Every fender is made with a larger radius to take account of the suspension movement of the wheel... So the very first thing is to modify the rear fender so that it tightly hugs the tire.
Then we have the fender struts, which are usually tailor made & fitted by hand to each individual bike. There will also be swing arm mountings, cable runs, various brackets, i.e. for the tail light, to name but a few…
As you can see it's a labor of love to create a Bobber rear end. It's really only possible when we carry out the work with the bike in the shop. There are only a few models where we can send you the kit, please ask us for details.
But!!! That doesn't mean you can't have that Bobber rear end. No problem. Even TüV Approval is possible.
So… I've put together a Bobber Rear End Kit. It comprises:
- Disassembly of standard rear end
- Base Fender (Flat or Stiletto)
- Modification of base fender to smaller radius
- Surface preparation for painting (bare steel)
- Manufacture, welding & mounting of suitable fender struts incl. material. Steel (stainless steel on request)
- Manufacture of fender strut mounting points on to swing arm incl. material
- Mounting of above parts
